Visual Artist | Acrylics & Palette Knife | Tanzania
Hi, I'm Henry Kirenga, a visual artist born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
My work is rooted in freedom. I don't confine myself to a single subject or style I paint portraits, animals, nature, emotions, and anything that sparks inspiration. Whether it's a quiet expression on someone's face or the wild energy of a charging bull, every painting is a chance to explore new ideas and connect with people on a deeper level.
"Art is my language of freedom each stroke breaks boundaries, each color tells a story untold by words."
I mainly use acrylic paint, working with both brushes and palette knives, with the knife being my favorite tool for building rich texture and movement. I'm especially inspired by my environment from the earthy textures of coffee seeds, to the colorful patterns of African fabrics, and the natural beauty that surrounds me in Tanzania. These elements help form a unique visual language in my work.
My journey as an artist has been shaped by curiosity, culture, and a need to express what words can't. Over time, I've developed a style that allows me to shift freely between subjects not because I'm undecided, but because I believe art should be as open and expressive as life itself.
Exhibited work at Rangi Gallery alongside other established artists.
Exhibited at Nafasi Art Space, one of Tanzania's leading contemporary art hubs.
Participated in international exhibitions in Germany and Zimbabwe, sharing Tanzanian art on global platforms.
Sold paintings to collectors in Germany and Japan, expanding the international reach of my work.
Collaborated with Nias Nyalada Art Studio in live painting sessions with major organizations including Vodacom, Tigo, and Airtel.
Worked with Nias Nyalada Art Studio during special painting sessions with leading Tanzanian musicians, including Diamond Platnumz's family and Jux.
I choose to keep my art affordable and accessible, especially for my local community. It's not because I value it less but because I believe that art should be for everyone, not just a few. For international collectors, that means supporting work that's rooted in purpose and integrity. For locals, it means making space for connection through creativity.
I've had the privilege of creating personalized artworks for collectors, including:
I've been honored to receive a Certificate of Appreciation from TLM in recognition of my artistic contribution.

Each artwork begins with a moment of inspiration - sometimes from nature, sometimes from human emotion, often from the vibrant culture around me. I work primarily with palette knives to create textured, expressive pieces that capture movement and energy.
